Our tour starts on Saturday morning in Portsmouth. If you wish to stay the Friday night in Portsmouth, the Holiday Inn Express (PO6 1UN) is ideal, it’s only a few minutes from the ferry terminal and is convenient for refuelling; please refuel in Portsmouth, it will save time when we reach Santander.

We catch the 8 AM ferry to Santander and need to be at check-in at least 1 hour before sailing time. We will be waiting for you to make sure your check-in goes smoothly. When everyone has boarded, we will meet for a briefing and to hand out 2-way radios for communications; we will discuss vital information relevant to your holiday, so please take this opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

After arriving in Santander and disembarking the ferry, we will regroup before starting our journey to the historic city of Leon, where we will spend our first night. The next morning, we will head for the Portuguese border town of Xinzo de Limia, where we will have lunch and refuel before hitting the mountain trails.

We will spend the next few days exploring this mountainous region of Galicia, North-Western Spain, driving mountain trails at altitude, some of which are quite technical and can be a challenge, especially if there is snowfall. There’s nothing to worry about though because we will be guiding you every inch of the way. It’s not all technical though, we will also be visiting sleepy towns with good facilities and friendly people; there will be plenty of time to relax and enjoy the local culture.

Most days we will be having lunch on the trails, so you will need camping chairs and a table, and a camping stove to make hot drinks. We will buy supplies for lunch as needed from the local stores in the towns where we stay. Please also make sure you have all-weather clothing on this tour, we will be visiting places at altitude where it can be extremely cold.

This tour is not for soft-roaders. You will need a well-prepared 4×4 vehicle with at least all-terrain tyres, a full-size spare, low box and good ground clearance. If in doubt, please contact us.
