Due to the inclement weather conditions, and after reviewing the condition of the lanes on the Yorkshire Wolds, we have decided to change this tour from the Yorkshire Wolds and Moors to the North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales. The tour will, therefore, start at The Cafe Stop, Eastgate Square, Pickering on Saturday morning at 9 AM from where we will explore the North Yorkshire Moors followed by a day in the Yorkshire Dales on Sunday.
We apologise for any inconvenience but our decision is based purely on preserving the Wolds’ lanes which will be a mudbath due to the rain we have had. If we were to continue with the tour there is a risk that the lanes would be affected beyond the point of natural recovery and that is contrary to our operating principles and the GLASS Code of Conduct.
Original Description of this tour which has now changed to the above for the reasons stated
Starting Saturday, we will explore the drover’s roads of the Yorkshire Wolds. The Wolds lanes can be very challenging, especially after a period of wet weather. Your driving ability and the capability of your vehicle may well be put to the test.
On Sunday we will meet at the Café Stop, Eastgate Square, Pickering. After breakfast, we will depart for the North Yorkshire Moors where we will drive lanes such as the famous Rudland Rigg and many others, including river crossings.
We will stop each day for lunch at a local pub but please carry snacks and drinks.
This tour is not for soft-roaders. You will need a well-prepared 4×4 vehicle with at least all-terrain tyres, a full-size spare, low box and good ground clearance. If in doubt, please contact us.
You do not need to carry recovery equipment because we carry everything that may possibly be needed in our lead vehicle. In fact, if you do need to be recovered, we will insist that our tested and approved recovery equipment is used for the sake of your safety and ours.
