New in our travel offerings: Champagne (France)

Who doesn’t know about sparkling wine from France? Champagne is famous for its effervescent wine and offers stunning roads and trails that will make any 4×4 enthusiast’s heart race. Ardventures is heading to Champagne, and you can join us.

However, there’s one small catch: because 4×4 driving in France must be done on a small scale and we want to keep it exclusive, there are only 5 spots available.

We are indeed keeping it exclusive. This is a trip with unique elements. We will be staying in a real chateau, visiting several small-scale champagne houses, and heading to Epernay to visit one of the largest champagne houses in the world.

Off-road driving in France is regulated strictly. It is not allowed on private property, and many forests are protected areas.

Nonetheless, there are plenty of opportunities to drive on unpaved roads. We will, of course, follow the local “code of conduct.” So, don’t expect “hardcore” off-road action with winches and steep climbs, but rather an enjoyable ride along beautiful country roads and dirt paths between the champagne fields and picturesque villages. The route will also include some technical sections, but given the season, these should be manageable with four-wheel drive and good AT tyres.

    Day 1: Monday, September 23

Our journey begins with a reception and tour at the Champagne house Seleque, located 10 kilometres south of Reims. This Champagne house has been around for over 50 years and is run by an enthusiastic woman who will guide us through her typically French Champagne house. After enjoying a typical French lunch and a glass of Champagne for the co-pilots, we head south. We follow a route to Etoges, where we will stay at the beautiful Chateau des Etoges ( We have reserved traditional rooms in the Orangerie, but staying in a chateau room is possible based on availability (additional cost of £150). We will have dinner together in the chateau.

    Day 2: Tuesday, September 24

Today, we will take a tour through the western Champagne region. The routes will be slightly more challenging but manageable with a standard 4×4. We will have lunch together in the afternoon at a Champagne house before continuing our route. We will again spend the night in Etoges but dine in the charming Epernay. Here, we will tour a world-famous Champagne house, followed by dinner together.

    Day 3: Wednesday, September 25

After checking out, we have planned visits to two Champagne houses for those interested. We will reach these by driving along enjoyable back roads and paths. We will end the trip with a group lunch, after which everyone will return with wonderful memories of this special journey.

    • 2 nights’ accommodation with bed and breakfast in the Orangerie (chateau room available based on availability, additional cost £150).
    • 2 dinners (first night at the hotel, second night in Epernay, both based on standard menu without drinks).
    • 3 simple lunches.
    • Guidance.
    • Transport Etoges – Epernay – Etoges on Tuesday evening.

    Not included:

    • All drinks.
    • Additional cost for upgrading to a chateau room.
    • Fuel.
    • Any toll and parking fees.
