North Yorkshire Moors
A clockwise route around the North Yorkshire Moors that is, for the most part, comfortable and easy to drive. It includes four river crossings, two at Grosmont and two near Leaholm. As with all river crossings, exercise caution. The only tricky parts to this tour are the lane that starts at Carr End and finishes on Smith’s Lane and Monket House Bank. The Carr End lane is steep, deeply rutted and rocky in places, and there is a moderate risk of tyre damage; it can also be very slick when wet. Monket House Bank is steep with some small rock steps where you can get cross-axled. Choose the correct line, and you will negotiate it without issue. Low-box should be engaged for both these lanes.
