Description

We will meet at the CafĂ© Stop, East gate Square Pickering at 9 am on the first day for breakfast and briefing. When we’re all ready, we will head out across the Yorkshire Moors, where we will negotiate trails such as the famous Rudland Rigg. The journey will take you to the North Yorkshire Moors’ highest points and deep into the valleys, where we will encounter river crossings, weather permitting.

In summer, the North Yorkshire Moors are a pleasant place to enjoy a day out and a mixture of easy to moderate lanes. The environment can be harsh and eerie as you climb through the clouds to the high moorland in winter. Whether you choose summer or winter, you will enjoy the day.

The weather on the North Yorkshire Moors is unpredictable and can change quickly from a lovely sunny day to cold and wet conditions. We always advise carrying all-weather clothing all year round and drinks and snacks in case of delays to the schedule.

At the end of our day on the Moors, we will travel over to Leyburn in the Yorkshire Dales for our overnight stay.

The Yorkshire Dales offer more challenging lanes than the North Yorkshire Moors and splendid views most never see. You will travel routes such as West Cam, a narrow lane that hugs the side of a valley with a 600 ft drop just a few feet from where you will be driving. It will demand your full attention. It’s not all like this though, most of the lanes are a mix of rock and gravel, with some requiring you take a good line to prevent catching your underbody and differentials. There’s nothing to worry about because we will be guiding you every inch of the way where required.

We usually stop each day at a local establishment for lunch, but it’s always good advice to carry snacks and drinks if the schedule is delayed.
