Yorkshire Dales Xmas Blast 2026
Christmas dinner finished? Had enough of sitting around the house? Then it’s time to get the 4×4 out and join us for our Yorkshire Dales Xmas Blast.
Taking place on 29–30 December 2026, this two-day winter adventure is a great opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy your 4×4 and experience the Yorkshire Dales at one of the most atmospheric times of the year.
Two Days in the Dales
Based in Masham, we’ll spend two full days exploring the Yorkshire Dales, tackling a carefully planned mixture of scenic roads and legal green lanes.
Our plan is to explore the Western Dales on one day and the Eastern Dales on the other, giving you two distinctly different days behind the wheel and the opportunity to experience a broad cross-section of this spectacular part of Yorkshire.
Winter transforms the Dales. The summer crowds have disappeared, the landscape takes on an altogether more rugged character and, if conditions are kind to us, there may even be snow on the higher ground.
Whatever the weather decides to do, expect spectacular scenery, proper Yorkshire countryside and plenty of enjoyable 4×4 driving.
Suitable for Most Proper 4×4 Vehicles
The Xmas Blast isn’t exclusively for any particular make or model. If you have a capable, road-legal 4×4 with reasonable ground clearance and suitable tyres, you’re welcome to join us.
The route is rated Moderate, with obstacles that should be negotiable by most capable 4×4 vehicles. All-terrain-biased tyres are the minimum requirement, with AT or MT tyres recommended for winter conditions.
As always, the exact route may be adapted to suit prevailing weather, ground conditions, vehicle capabilities and any restrictions in force at the time.
Small Groups
We deliberately keep our tours small, and the Xmas Blast is limited to a maximum of five customer vehicles.
Small groups make for a much more enjoyable day on the lanes, reduce our impact on other users and the countryside, and allow our tour leaders to provide assistance when required.
Accommodation – You Choose
Accommodation is not included in the tour price.
That means you’re free to choose accommodation to suit your own preferences and budget in or around Masham or Leyburn.
We recommend using Masham as your base, making it easy to meet up each morning and providing plenty of options for an evening meal and a drink after a winter’s day exploring the Dales. If you wish to stay in Leyburn, it’s only a 30-minute drive from Masham.

What You’ll Need
You’ll need a road-legal 4×4 with a valid MOT, reasonable ground clearance and suitable off-road tyres. You’ll also need appropriate winter clothing and footwear, along with snacks and drinks for the day.
We carry two-way radios, first-aid equipment, a fire extinguisher, recovery equipment and a SPOT emergency rescue system.
